Coming off 2018, expectations for the Penang Challenger were significant. Thus, we wanted to maintain our high standards but also introduce new features to keep things fresh.
For the first time, the tournament consisted of teams that had won a combined total of 4 World Tour Finals. Everyone in the group stage had a realistic chance of winning it all as the top teams faced off against rising stars. The final saw Novi Sad capping off an improbable run and winning their first title in Penang against Edmonton.
Still, the games were not the only highlight of the weekend. The crowd was also treated to a sensational dunk contest. Professional dunker, David “Air David” Carlos, amazed the audience with his remarkable athleticism and creativity. Additionally, the public had the chance to participate in various fan experience initiatives. Overall, the Penang Challenger continued to impress and extend its excellent reputation.
